In 2010 EFSA assessed anionic methacrylate copolymer for the proposed use as a coating for solid food supplements. EFSA considered that an ADI should not be established and used a margin-of-safety approach instead; at the proposed use and use levels in solid food supplements it concluded there is no safety concern. EFSA could not assess its use in solid foods for special medical purposes.
