What is E943b (isobutane)?
In Yenzo's data, E943b (INS 943b) is Isobutane.
E943b is Isobutane. INS 943b is not in Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT, so this page does not yet state a Vietnamese rule for it.
Did you know? Isobutane can be made by catalytic isomerisation of n-butane, or by catalytic synthesis from synthesis gas or from CO2 (literature cited by EFSA).
Wheat flour, vegetable oil, salt, sugar, propellant (943b), dried onion and garlic, pepper, natural colour (160a).
In Yenzo's data, E943b (INS 943b) is Isobutane.
In 2025 EFSA re-evaluated butane, isobutane and propane together. Based on their physicochemical properties, EFSA considered all three gases of low concern as additives with very low dietary exposure, and concluded that their use at the currently permitted uses and use levels does not raise a safety concern.
INS 943b was not found in Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT (consolidated 09/VBHN-BYT). The page draws no conclusion on the rule for E943b.
