Risk level on the Yenzo Scalehigh?Because it is not permitted in Vietnam; by the scientific evaluations alone: moderate

EFSA (2008) found that intake in some population groups can exceed the tolerable weekly intake (TWI); the EU therefore cut the maximum use levels and removed some of these additives (Regulation (EU) 380/2012). This is what puts it at the middle level of the Yenzo Scale.

What is E1452 (starch aluminium octenyl succinate)?

Is starch aluminium octenyl succinate harmful?

In 2017 EFSA re-evaluated 12 modified starches, including E1452. It concluded that there is no safety concern at the reported uses and use levels for the general population and no need for a numerical ADI. E1452 is used only in food supplements, so EFSA calculated it separately: for food supplement consumers the 95th percentile exposure was up to 22.1 mg/kg body weight a day.
