What is E900 (dimethyl polysiloxane)?
In Yenzo's data, E900 (INS 900) is Dimethyl polysiloxane.
E900 is Dimethyl polysiloxane. Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT has a row for INS 900a, a different INS number, so this page does not yet state a Vietnamese rule for E900.
Did you know? Besides being an antifoaming agent in food, dimethyl polysiloxane is permitted in plastics in contact with food and in cosmetics, where it serves as an antifoaming agent and emollient (per EFSA, citing the European Commission CosIng database).
Wheat flour, vegetable oil, salt, sugar, anticaking agent (900), dried onion and garlic, pepper, natural colour (160a).
In Yenzo's data, E900 (INS 900) is Dimethyl polysiloxane.
In 2020 EFSA set an ADI of 17 mg/kg body weight per day for E 900 and withdrew the earlier ADI of 1.5 mg/kg set by the SCF in 1990. According to EFSA, the exposure estimates for all population groups and all scenarios did not exceed this ADI, and there is no safety concern at the reported uses and use levels.
INS 900 has no row of its own in Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT (09/VBHN-BYT); there is a row for INS 900a, a different number. So the page draws no conclusion for E900.
