In 2016 EFSA concluded that there is no reason to revise the ADI of 5 mg/kg body weight per day for beta-cyclodextrin (E 459). In the brand-loyal scenario, which EFSA considered the most relevant, intake exceeded the ADI in all population groups except infants at the mean, and in all groups at the 95th percentile. EFSA also considered that the uncertainties would, in general, result in an overestimation of the exposure.
