What is E444 (SAIB)?
Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT lists sucrose acetate isobutyrate (INS 444) with the functions emulsifier and stabilizer.
E444 is sucrose acetate isobutyrate. Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT lists it with two functions: emulsifier and stabilizer.
Did you know? SAIB is a mixture of reaction products formed by the esterification of food-grade sucrose with acetic anhydride and isobutyric anhydride, followed by distillation.
Wheat flour, vegetable oil, salt, sugar, emulsifier (444), dried onion and garlic, pepper, natural colour (160a).
Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT lists sucrose acetate isobutyrate (INS 444) with the functions emulsifier and stabilizer.
In 2016, re-evaluating sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB, E 444), EFSA established an ADI of 20 mg/kg body weight per day, up from the 10 mg/kg set by the SCF in 1994. The ADI is not exceeded in any population group, and EFSA concluded that use at the permitted or reported levels would not be of safety concern.
Yes. Sucrose acetate isobutyrate (INS 444) is listed in Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT, the list of additives permitted in food.
