About this list

Annex 2A has the groups “herbs, spices, seasonings” and “soups and broths”^[2]. The additives for these two groups are given in the same annex^[1]; a product uses only a few codes, and the label shows which. BHA (E320) is an antioxidant, with its maximum stated “for oils or fats”^[3]. According to Codex, an antioxidant prolongs a food's shelf-life by protecting against deterioration caused by oxidation^[4]. Caramel class IV (E150d), a colour, is listed by the circular for both groups^[5].

The list comes from the “found in” section of each additive's page: the food groups of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT, Appendix 2A (maximum levels of additives in food). Being listed means the additive is permitted there, not that every product contains it.
