About this list

Jam, jelly, marmalade and fruit spreads sit under “jams, jellies, marmalades” and “fruit-based spreads”^[2]; one jar holds only a small part. Sorbic acid (E200) is a preservative, with its maximum “expressed as sorbic acid”^[3]. Tartaric acid (E334) adjusts acidity, “expressed as tartaric acid”^[4]. Acesulfame potassium (E950) is a sweetener, and the circular says how to count it when used together with aspartame-acesulfame salt^[5]. Read the ingredient line to see which codes are present. In Codex terms, the sweetener class leaves out mono- and disaccharide sugars^[6].

The list comes from the “found in” section of each additive's page: the food groups of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT, Appendix 2A (maximum levels of additives in food). Being listed means the additive is permitted there, not that every product contains it.
