E322 is lecithin, a mix of phospholipids mainly taken from soya bean oil. In food it is an emulsifier that helps oil and water mix, and also an antioxidant.

Is lecithins harmful?
In 2017 EFSA re-evaluated lecithins (E322) and concluded that no numerical ADI is needed and that their use as a food additive at the reported uses raises no safety concern for people over 1 year of age.
Is INS 322 permitted in Vietnam?
Yes. Lecithin (INS 322(i)) is listed in Appendix 1 of Circular 24/2019/TT-BYT, the list of additives permitted in food, as an antioxidant and emulsifier.
Can children and pregnant women have E322?
EFSA's 2017 conclusion on lecithins (E322) states that there is no safety concern for the general population from more than 1 year of age, at the refined exposure assessment for the reported uses. The sentence does not mention pregnant women separately.
